General
Everything you need to know before joining any of our tours. Full, detailed itineraries for each tour are available on the individual tour page on our website.
Group sizes vary depending on the time of year and the number of bookings we receive. During busier months, tours may operate in full-size luxury coaches, while in quieter periods smaller vehicles may be used. Regardless of group size, every tour is designed to be comfortable, well-organised, and fully guided by our professional driver and guide team.
No, every Wild Rover tour has two dedicated staff members on board: a professional driver and a separate Irish tour guide. The driver focuses fully on the road while the guide shares stories, history, and local insights throughout the journey.
This is one of the things that sets Wild Rover Tours apart from many other operators, ensuring both your safety and a richer, more enjoyable experience.
Yes, free Wi-Fi is available on all our coaches (signal strength may vary in remote areas).
Your driver and guide are always on the coach and available to help while you’re on board. During free time at attractions, and depending on the tour, before departure in Dublin, they may not be reachable. You’ll always receive clear instructions on meeting points and departure times before leaving the coach.
If you need assistance before or after your trip, our phone line is open 7 days a week, from 7:30 AM to 8:00 PM.

To stay on schedule for all guests, we can only wait a few minutes at each stop. Anyone who arrives late risks missing the coach, and refunds are not possible in that situation.
No, all tours operate as scheduled regardless of numbers.
Meals are not included, but there are several café and restaurant stops throughout the day. You’re also welcome to bring your own packed lunch.
Yes, unless otherwise noted, all entrance fees are included in your tour ticket.
Tickets should always be purchased in advance. Occasionally, if there are last-minute seats available, the guide may be able to sell you a ticket on the morning of the tour, but availability cannot be guaranteed.
Tipping is absolutely not expected, but it’s always appreciated. If you’ve enjoyed your day, both your driver and guide will be grateful for any tip you choose to give.
You’ll receive a confirmation email immediately after booking. Simply show this (on your phone or printed) when boarding the bus.
We recommend bringing your booking confirmation, comfortable clothing, a camera, water, and some cash or a card for food and souvenirs.
Yes, absolutely. There’s plenty of storage space in the luggage compartment under the coach. You can bring small suitcases or backpacks. Please note that luggage cannot be stored inside the passenger area of the bus for safety reasons.
Ireland’s weather can change quickly, so we recommend layers. A warm jumper, waterproof jacket, and comfortable trousers are ideal. Even in summer, it can be windy along the coast.
Comfortable walking shoes or runners are best. You’ll be getting on and off the bus several times and walking on uneven paths at places like the Cliffs of Moher or Glendalough.
Yes, a light waterproof jacket is highly recommended. Umbrellas can be difficult to use at windy sites, so a hooded raincoat works better.
Our departure points vary slightly by tour. All are centrally located in Dublin City Centre, close to public transport and easy to reach on foot. The specific meeting points and times for each tour are listed in the Departure Points section of our FAQ and on your booking confirmation.
Unfortunately, we’re unable to offer hotel pickups on our daily scheduled group day tours. Due to route licensing and scheduling laws, our coaches can only stop at our designated pickup points in Dublin City Centre. We kindly ask that you make your way to the nearest meeting point listed for your chosen tour. The specific meeting points and times for each tour are listed in the Departure Points section of our FAQ and on your booking confirmation.
We ask all guests to arrive at least 10 minutes before departure. Out of respect for everyone’s time and to comply with driver working hours, our buses must depart on schedule. If you arrive late, unfortunately the coach cannot wait.
All tours operate as normal, rain or shine. Most of Ireland’s iconic sights are outdoors, so please dress appropriately and bring waterproof clothing.
You can cancel or amend your tour up to 24 hours in advance of the tour date. To qualify for a full refund, notice must be given by email before 12:01 AM on the day prior to travel. If no cancellation notice is received, refunds are at the discretion of our reservations department.
We refund 100% of the amount received, but external transaction fees may vary depending on your card type or bank. Please note that any card or bank processing fees applied by your payment provider are non-refundable.
We also recommend checking whether your travel insurance covers missed tours.
For private tours, please see the separate cancellation policy listed under the *Private Tours* section.
Unfortunately, cancellations made within 24 hours of departure are non-refundable, as seats have already been reserved. We suggest checking if your travel insurance covers missed tours.
We are not able to guarantee front row seating in advance. Our guides assign seats each morning to accommodate guests with special needs or accessibility requirements. For motion sickness, the middle of the bus (around rows 5–8) is actually the most stable area, and we’ll do our best to prioritise those seats for you.
The island of Ireland is an open, free-travel zone. There are no immigration or passport controls on the border with the North of Ireland, in keeping with the law as enforced through the Good Friday Agreement of 1998. For further information on UK border control, click here.
No, our coaches don’t have toilets on board (to avoid odours). We make regular comfort stops roughly every two hours where you’ll find clean facilities.
Yes, you’re welcome to bring water or small snacks. We ask guests not to bring hot food, as strong smells can be unpleasant for others.
We make regular comfort and sightseeing stops throughout the day, typically every two hours. Each tour has its own itinerary and timing, so we recommend checking the itinerary or FAQ section for your specific tour for more detailed information.
We operate luxury coaches with air conditioning, 4G Wi-Fi, panoramic windows, and comfortable seating. All vehicles are maintained to the highest standards for safety and cleanliness.
For our day tours, we typically use 19-seater, 37-seater, 55-seater, or 63-seater luxury coaches, depending on demand and season. For private tours, a wider range of vehicles is available. Please see the *Private Tours* section and FAQ for more details.
Most of our luxury coaches are fitted with USB charging points at each seat. Occasionally, if a replacement or older vehicle is used, USB ports may not be available, but this is rare. We always do our best to provide coaches with full modern facilities whenever possible.
Our luxury coaches are bright, modern, and comfortable, with spacious reclining seats (we kindly ask that you check with the person behind you before reclining), large windows for sightseeing, and overhead storage for small bags and jackets.
Online payments can be made securely by debit or credit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express) on this website.
If you booked through a hotel concierge or at your hostel, you can pay the remaining balance directly to your guide on the morning of the tour.
We accept card, cash, and Revolut payments. Revolut is a secure digital payment app widely used in Ireland and across Europe, and it works seamlessly with Apple Pay, Google Pay, and other phone-based payment systems.
Most attractions and cafés accept cards, but we always recommend bringing a small amount of cash (€20–€30) for rural areas or smaller shops.

Private Tours
The island of Ireland is an open, free-travel zone. There are no immigration or passport controls on the border with the North of Ireland, in keeping with the law as enforced through the Good Friday Agreement of 1998. For further information on UK border control, click here.
To book a private tour, simply send us an enquiry through our website. You can choose from one of our suggested itineraries or request a fully customised route tailored to your interests. Once we know your preferred destinations, travel dates, group size, and any special requirements, our Private Tours team will prepare a detailed quotation and itinerary. When you’re happy with the plan, we’ll send a secure payment link to confirm your booking.
Private tours are in high demand due to limited number of vehicles, especially during peak travel seasons and public holidays such as St. Patrick’s Day, Easter, and Christmas. For these busy periods, guests often book six months to a year in advance. Outside of peak times, booking a few months ahead is usually sufficient — but we always recommend reaching out as soon as you have a date in mind. It’s worth enquiring even last-minute, as occasional cancellations can free up availability.
Yes, that is possible. We can secure your booking with a partial payment, and the remaining balance can be settled closer to the tour date. This allows flexibility while ensuring your preferred date and vehicle are reserved for your group.
The cost of a private tour varies depending on several factors, including:
If you can dream it, we can make it happen. All our private tours are fully customisable. You can choose your preferred destinations, attractions, pace, and even dining style.
The only limits are the legal daily touring hours for a driver-guide. If your ideal itinerary exceeds that, we can always design a multi-day or overnight tour instead.
Whether you want to explore lesser-known scenic routes, trace family roots, visit local farms, focus on nature, or see as many castles as possible, we will adapt the itinerary to suit your interests. Simply tell us what you have in mind, and our experienced team will prepare tailored suggestions for you.
Yes, absolutely. Private tours are designed to be flexible. Minor adjustments can usually be made directly with your driver-guide on the day, such as extending time at one stop or skipping another. Any major changes that would affect the duration, involve new entrance bookings, or significantly alter the route may not be possible without prior arrangement.
Your guide will review your requests at the start of the day and confirm what’s feasible based on timing, logistics, and road conditions. As long as the changes remain within the same tour duration and region, flexibility is always encouraged.
Yes, that’s possible. If you have a preferred driver-guide (or example, someone you’ve toured with previously), we’ll always do our best to accommodate your request, subject to availability.
While we cannot guarantee a specific guide (as they may be on holiday or already on tour), our team will make every effort to match your preference.
If you’d like to add a second guide, this can also be arranged at an additional.
Our driver-guides and tour guides operate exclusively in English to ensure clear communication and a high-quality experience.
The main difference is flexibility. On a private tour, the itinerary is fully customisable, and your guide adjusts the day according to your pace and interests. You can stop for extra breaks, enjoy spontaneous photo stops, or spend more time at a location you particularly love. Unlike regular group tours, private tours are entirely exclusive to your group, meaning no other passengers will be on board. Your guide can modify the route in real time, provided all stops fit within the daily driving limit. If you decide to extend time at one location, your guide may suggest shortening another stop to keep the day balanced and relaxed. Private tours also use premium vehicles sized specifically to suit your group. Finally, both the guiding and overall attention are dedicated exclusively to your group. Your driver-guide focuses entirely on your experience, ensuring a more personal, seamless, and tailored day compared to a regular shared tour.
All our vehicles are modern, premium models — typically just a few years old — and maintained to the highest touring standards. Our fleet ranges from Mercedes business-class sedans and MPVs to 9-, 19-, 37-, 55-, and 63-seater executive coaches. Once we know your group size and preferred tour date, we’ll provide the most suitable vehicle options available for that day so you can choose your preferred size and style. Each vehicle is reserved exclusively for your group, ensuring comfort, privacy, and flexibility throughout the journey.
Our vehicles are not wheelchair-accessible as they do not have lifting platforms. However, many vehicles can accommodate a folded manual wheelchair or rollator if a passenger can be assisted into a seat. Please note that large or electric wheelchairs may not fit in smaller vehicles, so it’s best to let us know the dimensions in advance to confirm whether storage will be possible.
Yes, we can provide both child and booster seats upon request. You are also very welcome to bring your own if you prefer, or already have one that fits your child comfortably.
Private tours include door-to-door service. We can collect you directly from your hotel, Airbnb, or another agreed meeting point in Dublin. For smaller vehicles, we’re extremely flexible with pick-up points. For larger coaches, we just need to ensure there is safe space for the vehicle to pull over for boarding and drop-off.
Absolutely. Private tours allow for maximum flexibility. We can pick you up at the airport, cruise terminal, hotel, or other location – and drop you off somewhere different if needed. For larger vehicles, we only ask that the collection and drop-off points have suitable parking or space for safe loading.
Yes, definitely. Many of our guests choose to begin their journey in Dublin and finish elsewhere. Alternatively, we can arrange overnight or multi-day tours with accommodation en route, so that you continue exploring other parts of Ireland before returning.
Yes, that’s possible. However, we recommend limiting the number of separate pick-ups to save time and make the most of your touring day. Gathering everyone at one location usually allows for a smoother start and more sightseeing time during the day.
Private tours operate within a legally required daily driving limit. Typically, the maximum duration is up to 13 hours, so for example 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM. These limits are enforced for safety reasons and monitored via tachograph, so tours cannot be extended beyond that limit. It’s not possible to pay extra to exceed the maximum time either.
This depends on the tour arrangement. When we design your itinerary, we usually include all main entrance fees in your quoted total so that everything is pre-booked and guaranteed in advance. If you prefer, we can exclude admissions and you can pay directly on the day, but we generally recommend pre-booking to avoid delays and ensure entry availability.
Your driver-guide will plan stops regularly throughout the day, and additional restroom or coffee breaks can be made whenever needed. Simply let your guide know, and they will suggest the next available stop along the route.
Yes, absolutely. You’re welcome to bring your own refreshments on board.
No, bottled water and umbrellas are not provided, so we recommend bringing your own, especially during warmer or rainy months.
No, smoking, vaping, and alcohol consumption are strictly prohibited on all vehicles, both for the comfort of your group and out of respect for future passengers (and our members of staff). There will be regular breaks during the day where smoking is permitted outside the vehicle.
We offer a full refund if cancellation is received at least 7 days before the tour date.
If cancelled with less than 7 days’ notice but more than 2 days, a 50% refund applies.
Cancellations made within 48 hours of the tour date are non-refundable, as guides, drivers, and entry tickets will already have been secured.
Yes, we do. We regularly collaborate with travel agents and industry partners worldwide. If you are a travel professional, please reach out directly to private@wildrovertours.com, and our Private Tours department will be happy to provide a customised offer and discuss commission options.
